Gutter cleaning machine vacuum cleaners - an overview

Gutter cleaning with carbon poles and powerful vacuum cleaners from the ground is now the industry standard and the systems from the manufacturer Spina Clean are clearly and rightly considered the market leader. We get a lot of questions about these gutter vacuum cleaners and would like to answer some of them here.

First of all, here are our products in the SkyVac-systems-for-gutter-cleaning category

If you would prefer to go directly to the relevant products, then click here: Gutter cleaning devices.

Please note that we deliberately only offer systems from Spinaclean that are intended for professionals. As a supplier for companies and businesses, we therefore do not want to discuss the simple, small systems that are intended more for private households.

We would like to address the following questions in this article:

  • Gutter cleaning how high - up to what height can I work with the systems from the ground?
  • Gutter cleaning how often - how often should this service be carried out for my customers?
  • Which ladder for gutter cleaning - do I need a ladder at all?
  • Why gutter cleaning - why is it necessary at all?
  • Gutter cleaning without a ladder - is it possible?
  • Gutter cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and telescopic pole - what do I need?

Gutter cleaning at what height - up to what height can I work with the systems from the ground?

The SkyVac gutter vacuum cleaners and their carbon poles offer a maximum length of 12 meters. For this purpose, 8 carbon plug-in elements are inserted into each other and connected to the respective vacuum cleaner. This corresponds to a working height of approx. 13.5 meters if you add the employee. This can generally be used to clean gutters that are installed above the 3rd floor.

Gutter cleaning how often - how often should this service be carried out for my customers?

There is no general answer to the question of how often a gutter needs to be cleaned. The question of the height of the respective gutter and, even more importantly, the vegetation in the immediate vicinity is extremely decisive. Accordingly, there are gutters that are still virtually empty even after 10 years (e.g. on the 3rd floor without trees around them) and others that even need to be cleaned several times a year (e.g. 1 floor with different, large deciduous trees in the immediate vicinity). One inspection per year is recommended in any case, even if it is only a check using a camera system. In addition, even with high gutters without trees, there are one-off events that can lead to blockages (tennis balls, dead birds, etc.).

Which ladder for gutter cleaning - do I still need a ladder at all?

The new BG BAU regulation means that ladders - at least for tradespeople - are no longer an option for gutter cleaning. Companies and professional providers may only use them for low gutters or up to a height of 5 meters if the project can be completed in less than 2 hours. Above this (i.e. "higher"), ladders are no longer an option. As rolling scaffolding and cherry pickers are also associated with immense costs and cannot be provided in some cases, gutter vacuum cleaners are the only remaining solution for professional and economical gutter cleaning.

Why gutter cleaning - why is it necessary at all?

Gutters can fill up and even become blocked, primarily by leaves and needles, but also by one-off events (golf balls, tennis balls, toys, animal carcasses, etc.).
This can cause massive damage to the building in question. On the one hand, if the gutter overflows, water can enter the façade or roof cladding, which is particularly possible with old and defective roofs and façades. In addition, the gutter itself may leak, warp or even tear off under its own weight. Regular emptying or cleaning of the gutters is therefore essential.

Gutter cleaning without a ladder - is it possible?

It is cheaper, quicker and safer than using ladders, scaffolding and cherry pickers to reach the gutter manually. Powerful vacuum cleaners and carbon plug-in poles or telescopic poles are used for this purpose. We recommend the systems from Spinaclean. SkyVac is the market leader here and offers unbeatable quality and performance at affordable conditions!

Gutter cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and telescopic pole - what do I need?

Basically, you need a specially prepared, extremely powerful vacuum cleaner. The Spina-Clean systems are characterized by a special and optimized introduction of the suction hose (and thus also the dirt) into the tank of the respective machine. In addition, there is a so-called baffle plate inside the professional systems in front of the filters and filter holders. This protects the filters, which could otherwise become defective or even break due to the combination of heavy and wet media and the high suction power.
There are simple, professional systems that are electric (for regular use), particularly powerful electric systems (for daily use) and even self-sufficient and petrol-driven solutions (for large projects without electricity on site). These offer full flexibility, maximum suction power and also a thrust reversal for "blowing".
These vacuums are then combined with various poles and end tools to provide up to 12 meters of additional upward reach from the ground.
Of course, suction cups, poles and tools are available individually. However, we recommend purchasing a complete set, especially for beginners.
