But what does the word ATEX actually mean?
The abbreviation of the word ATEX comes from the French "ATmosphéres EXplosibles" which means "explosive atmospheres".
The ATEX directive comprises the directives
- 2014/34/EU --> ATEX Product Directive
- 1999/92/EC --> ATEX Operating Directive
and regulates certain aspects of explosion protection in the European Union.
Accordingly, only devices that comply with the ATEX directives may be used in potentially explosive atmospheres!!! There is also a zone classification of potentially explosive atmospheres according to ATEX.
Our explosion protection & dust class vacuum cleaners are all designed for zone 22 (where the hazardous explosive atmosphere does not form or only forms briefly during normal operation) and for dust class M dusts.
